A Website Designed to Help Nurture a Community’s Curiosity

The Flagg-Rochelle Public Library needed a website that made it easy for community members to find the right materials to inform and enrich their lives. With a comprehensive collection of digital and print titles, civic and community resources, and regular events for patrons of all ages, the library needed a site that was easy to navigate, mobile-friendly, and put a fresh spin on its branding and online presence.

Redefining How a Library Website Can Look

Many library websites are relatively simple in their construction in that they provide basic functionality such as the ability to search holdings or titles, access interlibrary loan databases, or browse a list of upcoming events. The Flagg-Rochelle Public Library felt their website could offer so much more, specifically information about what makes the library’s physical location unique and the breadth of digital resources they provide.

However, their challenge was executing a site design with a UX that made browsing easy on any platform or device, increased their SEO by providing answers to commonly searched questions, and demonstrated in a more narrative-driven way the important role libraries play within the community.

HubSpot’s CMS Hub Starter proved to be the perfect tool for our Technical, Creative, and Content teams to build a dynamic website with refreshed branding and compelling content that highlights the library’s history and unique architectural features, wide variety of database subscriptions and digital resources, educational event programming, and multilingual bank of community resources and downloads.

A Digital Window to the World

The Flagg-Rochelle Public Library’s new website is a visually-engaging and easy-to-use digital home where patrons can quickly and easily find digital and print resources on almost any topic imaginable.

An expanded FAQ page more efficiently and completely answers common questions about the library and its services. Plus, the site also makes it simple to contact the staff, as well as participate in the current state and growth of the library via a schedule of upcoming library board meetings and an archive of minutes from previous meetings.

In addition, a more accessible events calendar puts the library’s programming center stage, and dynamic photography of the library itself and its staff gives the website a warm, inviting feeling that encourages visitors to truly explore everything the library has to offer.
